Looking for a fun weekend activity? Cheer on the Madison Mavericks, Wisconsin's premier semi-pro minor league basketball team! Their home games take place on Madison College's campus and are perfect for fans of any age. As a member of the Official Basketball Association and defending champions of the Northern Division, the Mavericks promise an exciting season ahead. We recently got a closer look at some of the talent during their tryouts!
The Madison Mavericks were founded and are currently owned by Roy Boone, who aimed to create Madison's first-ever minor league basketball team to offer individuals another outlet to continue their basketball careers after high school and college. Roy, a former player at Madison East and UW-Madison, where he was part of the 2000 Badgers Final Four team, has deep roots in Madison and a passion for basketball. Additionally, he founded the Roy Boone Summer League, a recreational men's basketball league, and serves as a coach at Madison College. Last year, the Mavericks welcomed their new coach, James Adams, renowned for his experience coaching AAU and high school basketball, as well as his role as co-head women's basketball coach at Madison College.
Beyond the court, the Mavericks are committed to community outreach. Their program, Bigger Than Sports, aims to motivate Madison's youth and build character through basketball camps, skill clinics, enrichment programs, and mission trips.
We are excited to support the Mavericks as they embark on their upcoming season and commend their ongoing contributions to the local basketball community. Join us for their Home Opener at Madison College's Truax Campus on Saturday, April 6 at 12:00 p.m.!
