Lake City Glass

Since 1970, Lake City Glass has been a cornerstone of commercial glazing in our community. What started as a small business called Lake City Glass and Paint has grown into a trusted leader in glass fabrication, installation, and repair.
The company was founded by three entrepreneurs: John Grybowski, Jerry Sheskey, and Steve Villand. They began with modest services like painting and residential glass work. They then shifted focus to commercial contract glazing, dropping "Paint" from their name and expanding into more specialized glass installation services.
Mark Sheskey's journey with the company began humbly - cleaning toilets and unloading glass trucks by hand during high school. Determined to master his craft, he completed a 4-year Glazier Apprenticeship to become a Journeyman Glazier. In 1984, Mark and his business partner Wes Browne purchased half of the company shares from Jerry Sheskey. Then in the early 2000’s purchased the other half from Steve Villand. After Wes's unexpected passing in 2014, Mark became the sole owner, continuing the company's vision of excellence.
Lake City Glass stands out for its commitment to community and quality. They've built strong partnerships with Operation Fresh Start, Urban League of Greater Madison, WRTP/BIG STEP, and several Dane County Schools. These partnerships help introduce students to the glazing trade and also provide diverse employment opportunities.
Over 50 years, Lake City Glass has developed a comprehensive approach to commercial glazing that sets them apart. Their 20,000 square foot facility allows for complete in-house fabrication, with CNC equipment ensuring the safest and most efficient work possible. They manage every aspect of a project - from design and engineering to final installation - and specialize in intricate repair work including door hardware replacements, water infiltration diagnostics, and glass replacements.
In 2021, they became a certified NACC Architectural Glass and Metal Contractor, demonstrating their commitment to national quality and safety standards. Their expertise has been trusted on landmark projects throughout the community, including notable repairs at the Overture Center and Camp Randall, proving that no project is too big or too small for their skilled team.
In summer 2025, Lake City Glass will move to a new facility at 747 N Stevenson Street, Deforest, carrying forward their core philosophy of putting customers and family first. From small beginnings to a respected industry leader, they continue to prove that dedication, innovation, and community connection are the foundations of lasting success.
